if your rankings have dropped pretty quickly, then it is a great indication that your website has been penalized.

The best way to check if your website was penalized by an automatic penalty means algorithmic penalty, just log in to Google analytics and review your Google organic traffic.

If you see a drop in traffic during the dates that Google released an algorithmic change, then most probably you were hit and that’s the reason that your traffic dropped.

here are the steps you need to follow, select your website from the Google Analytics dashboard and then go to ACQUISITION > All Traffic > Source / Medium.

From the list select GOOGLE / ORGANIC. What you see now in the report is the number of visits you get from Google search.

For manual penalty you can check out your search console account

If your website is penalized by google the sitemap in the webmaster tool will show you the error. The crawling will be stopped and the website will disappear from SERPs.

The best way to check if your website is subject to automatic fines is to log in to Google Analytics and check your Google organic traffic. If you see a drop in traffic during the date that Google announced the algorithm change, it’s likely that you were hit, and that’s the reason for the drop in traffic.

On Google, search for the site: YourDomain and check the results. If Google indicates that no results were found, it is likely that your site has been penalized.
